Steel Valley and Washington was set to be a heavyweight battle between two one loss clubs in the WPIAL Quarterfinals. Both have ran through the regular season and came off of first round blow out wins. While Steel Valley showed up to the bout, and brought their heaviest punch, Washington was phased and unable to respond, falling 39-7.

Steel Valley got out to an early lead, after a fourth down stop to go up 7-0. They got a second fourth down stop and running back Todd Hill ripped a 57-yard touchdown off to take a 13-0 lead early. However, Washington fought back and used a block punt to cut the lead to 13-7. That is when the Ironmen said enough is enough and put the game away.

The game changed when Steel Valley scored three touchdowns in a 51 second span.

Steel Valley drove straight down the field, rotating Hill with Kameron Williams carries all the way for a touchdown to take a 20-7 lead. The very next play from scrimmage saw Steel Valley up 27-7. Todd Hill blitzed up the middle and flushed the quarterback out of the pocket. While the quarterback tried to throw it away, he could not get enough on his pass and fluttered a pass to be intercepted by Dionte Williams. Williams took it to the endzone, putting Washington in a tough spot.

They were unable to stand in the face of adversity as Washington fumbled their very next play on offense, and Steel Valley capitalized two plays later. Todd Hill took a carry to the left and the game was 33-7. With just over three minutes to go in the half, Washington was within one score. At the half, Steel Valley led by 26. It was a stunning turn of events.

The second half was spent salting away the lead. Taking control of the game that quickly obviously played into the advantage of Steel Valley. Washington is a team that is going to try to use motion, options and outside runs to move the football. However, trailing by more than three scores, the ground attack was only going to churn the clock in Steel Valley’s favor.

On the other end, Steel Valley was ready unleash their two headed rushing attack of Todd Hill and Kameron Williams. They got to go to their bread and butter, pick up a few first downs and control the game.

Todd Hill finished the game with 165 rushing yards, and three touchdowns spending the second half putting Washington away.

The loss will finish a 10-2 season for the Washington Prexies. Steel Valley will play on, heading to the WPIAL Semi-Finals next week against Freedom.
