WPIAL Football Semifinals: West A, Steel Valley, Penn Hills, South Side Advance

With a trip to the championship game on the line, eight teams from classes 5A and 2A clashed tonight in the WPIAL semifinals.

In the 2A classification, South Side defeated Charleroi, 26-21 at Canon-Mac and Steel Valley shut out Freedom at Montour, 40-0.

In 5A, Penn Hills advanced to the final, beating Peters Township 22-14 at Norwin and West Allegheny prolonged Bob Palko’s high school coaching career by knocking off the previously undefeated Gateway Gators 42-28.
