Pitt volleyball swept Iona, 3-0 at Petersen Events Center on Friday, to advance to the second round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament.

The Panthers had to come from behind in the first set before closing late to win, 26-25. They then rolled, 25-18 and 25-15 to wrap up their first-round postseason victory.

But it was not all good news for the Panthers. Sophomore outside hitter Kayla Lund left the match in the third set with what appeared to be a serious right leg injury. She was helped off the floor. Lund, one of Pitt’s best players, finished with nine kills and eight digs.

Nika Markovic led Pitt with 16 kills. Stephanie Williams had nine kills and nine digs. Kylee Levers had 21 assists, while Kamalani Akeo had 20.

The Panthers will stay at home to host Michigan in the second round at the Pete. That match will start at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
