Busy Week for Pitt TE Target Travis Koontz

Tight end Travis Koontz has a busy week scheduled as he closes in on making his college decision a week from today.

As PSN told you first earlier this week, Pat Narduzzi and Shawn Watson traveled to California on Monday to have their in-home visit with him.

That in-home by the Pitt coaches was important because the rest of Koontz’s week is filled with official visits.

The much sought after tight end starts an official visit at TCU today and then will spend the weekend at Texas Tech. Koontz will then have his finals next week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

This means that Koontz will have some four official visits before he makes it official: Pitt, UConn, TCU and Texas Tech.

The other school that’s still in the mix is Georgia. Koontz was told that Kirby Smart’s program will offer him if their current tight end turns pro.

However, timing is an issue because from all indications, Koontz will sign on December 19th.

We’re still being told that Koontz has interest in Pitt but has major concerns about the offense, in particular the role of the tight end.

Koontz doesn’t want to be mostly used as a run-blocking tight end. which is primarily the way Pitt tight ends were used last year.

One other note, we’re told that Texas Tech is trying to lure Koontz by emphazing their pass-heavy offense.

Will that be a deciding factor? We’ll find out a week from today.
