It’s a sad day for Pitt and Western Pennsylvania football fans with the news of the death of the great Bill Fralic. As you can imagine, plenty of people are remembering the late Bill Fralic.
Rest in peace Bill Fralic, great teammate but even better guy. Toughest dude you could ever know!! Sad day.

Bill Fralic was a true Western PA guy, thru and thru. You were a great Player, great Role Model and even better Person. You touched and influenced soo many people along your journey. RIP Bill and thank you for being the person you were.

Just so sad to hear of the passing of Bill Fralic, one of the greatest OLineman I’ve ever played against in college and the NFL… and a better man off the field….such a good person, who will be so missed

Bill Fralic, one of the top 20 greatest guards in NFL history, in my opinion. Started 131 of 132 career games. Rest easy, my guy.

Sad news about Bill Fralic. The word ‘legend’ gets thrown around a lot but it was incredibly accurate in his case.
— SuckMeter (@SuckMeter) December 14, 2018
RIP to a legend. 🙏🏼 Bill Fralic, along with Jim Lachey, made me want to wear the number 79. He made the game look easy. https://t.co/68dlPRDZ7z

Lost a legend, family member. Bill Fralic was intelligent, TOUGH, giving, and compassionate. Rare. RIP brother. We will have that next 18. This just a rain delay.

Going through our archives and materials pertaining to to Bill Fralic. I'll post them throughout the day. Here's one from 1985 with agent @RalphCindrich during Fralic's ongoing contract negotiations with the Falcons. Our Bill Hillgrove has the story. #Pitt pic.twitter.com/gNY8AsR1ZK

The PHSHOF has heavy hearts this morning. Our organization is thriving today because of Bill Fralic’s generosity. He was always there in desperate times of need for all organizations and teams in PH. A great player, a legend and an even better human being. Impacted generations! pic.twitter.com/VXHGcK108N

Bill Fralic was a great player at Pitt, one of their best offensive linemen ever, and maybe a better person from what I hear. He should have lived forever but died at 56 today. RIP. Today in his honor it will be a Backyard Bawl.
— Bob Hertzel (@bhertzel) December 14, 2018
Bill Fralic finishing in the top 10 of the Heisman voting twice as an offensive linemen is one of the more ridiculous things I’ve ever heard I think.
— Jim Hammett (@JimHammett) December 14, 2018
Bill Fralic passing away at 56 breaks my heart. We were tight. I was covering Falcons when he was No.2 pick in ‘85 draft. He reached out to me immediately about steroids issue. He asked me to walk the walk w him to make an impact that is beyond historical. RIP, my man.

We lost a legend today.
Bill Fralic, 1962-2018.
Rest in peace, 79. pic.twitter.com/obYWvMC8QW

Bill Fralic was one of the most dominant athletes I ever saw. But he should also be remembered for raising the alarm about PEDs in the NFL, telling a Senate committee in 1989 that steroid use was "rampant" in the league. A whole other kind of courage.

Billy’s life & legacy go well beyond the football field. A man who cherished his roots and loved to “pay it forward” by providing for others. He was truly a Superman, even after he put away his shoulder pads for the final time. Rest In Peace #79. https://t.co/lfxLAxAxrR
— EJ Borghetti (@PittBorghetti) December 14, 2018
A legend that I was fortunate enough to call a teammate in the #NFL and a Pitt Panther brother. All the love, thoughts and prayers of support for his family, both personal and professional. Rest In Peace big man. #H2P https://t.co/OGg1Bpwilb
— Louis Riddick (@LRiddickESPN) December 14, 2018
He did this. And more. At the start of this season, Bull bought the team new coaches headsets at over $10k. He was always asking what we needed &willing to provide it, gladly & joyfully. We take solace in knowing he was able to watch his beloved Indians win states last Friday. https://t.co/ExUHqljLkv

56 is way too young.
F cancer.
RIP, Bill Fralic.
Forever a bad ass on the field and a good dude off of it.

What a sad day for Pitt football and Penn Hills football, too. Bill Fralic, arguably the greatest O-lineman in Pitt history, has lost his battle to cancer. He was just 56 years old. #BCTsports #pitt pic.twitter.com/LbhHGqIbMT
— Mike Bires (@mikebires) December 14, 2018
Bill Fralic, RIP. I covered him when he played high school football at Penn Hills. He could have started at Pitt as a high-school junior. Amazing talent. Went far too young.
— Mark Madden (@MarkMaddenX) December 14, 2018
A legendary player and person. Truly special. Rest In Peace, Bill. https://t.co/DntJiQX3Fv

Today is a very sad day for anyone who knew Bill. He was much more than a great football player. He was loyal and smart, kind, caring, generous. He loved his family had incredible integrity but most of all he was a true friend to so many including me. https://t.co/1ieFdOQ2rk

R.I.P Bill Fralic 🙏🏾🙏🏾
— Coach Ife (@Coach_Ifill21) December 14, 2018
Steelers personnel guru Art Rooney Jr. once told me Penn Hills' Bill Fralic was the only high school player he ever saw who might have been able to jump to the NFL. What a man Fralic was. What a great person. RIP
— Ron Cook (@RonCookPG) December 14, 2018
Oh man, just heard that Bill Fralic died. I’d rate him as the third best Pitt player in modern times, behind Tony Dorsett and Hugh Green. He’s also the only OL in the modern era to twice finish in the top 10 in Heisman voting.
— Chris Dokish (@ChrisDokish) December 14, 2018
Former @phqbclub and @Pitt_FB star Bill Fralic passes away at the age of 56. Fralic recently paid for the entire Penn Hills football team and staff to stay over night in Hershey. pic.twitter.com/rDTUo4GFEG

It is with a truly heavy heart & deep sadness that we have learned of the passing of our friend, Bill Fralic. He will be remembered as greatest o-lineman, ever, and as a true gentleman. He was our friend, our teammate, our brother. #pennhillspride @Pitt_FB @AtlantaFalcons pic.twitter.com/HkXurdD4UX
