** Jeff Capel’s pursuit of players in the Class of 2019 took an interesting turn on Monday night, when the Pitt staff extended an offer to a senior guard for the first time in quite some time.

That changed when Capel extended an offer to 2019 combo guard Dereon Seabron. Seabron is originally from Norfolk, Virginia and is playing a postgraduate season at Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, Virginia.

Seabron is 6-foot-5, 180 pounds and has a long offer list. Georgia, Minnesota, Providence, SMU, Temple andVCU have offered as well as Central Connecticut State, Coppin State, Hampton, James Madison, Mount St. Mary’s, Norfolk State, Radford, Robert Morris and Towson.

His recruiting has certainly picked up steam lately. VCU, Minnesota, Georgia, Temple and Providence are his latest offers. He took an official visit to Minnesota in October.

Seabron is rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 107 player in the class and No. 6 player in Virginia by 247 Sports, but they have not produced a composite ranking for him. Rivals.com rates Seabron as an unranked three-star player.
