Mark Whipple to Visit With Norwin Quarterback Jack Salopek

New Pitt offensive coordinator Mark Whipple will officially start recruiting this week and one of his first visits will be to a local player.
Pittsburgh Sports Now has learned that on Friday, Whipple will be at Norwin High School to meet with junior quarterback Jack Salopek. It’s interesting that Salopek currently holds two offers: Pitt and UMass, Whipple’s former team.
Pitt has already offered nine junior quarterbacks, but with Whipple now the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach, it’s unsure how many of those are still official. I would imagine that Whipple will need to make himself familiar with these quarterbacks that have been previously offered to see if they fit what he’s looking for.
However, considering he already offered him at UMass, it’s safe to assume that Salopek is still on Pitt’s board.
Salopek attended the Duke basketball game last night as a guest of Pitt and prior to the game, he made a stop at the Pitt football complex to talk with various Panther coaches.
