Pitt freshman wing Au’Diese Toney will miss Tuesday night’s game against Clemson with a hand injury, the team announced.
Toney is a 6-foot-6 guard from Huntsville, Alabama. He started the first 20 games of the season and is averaging 9.4 points per game, fourth on the team. His 6.0 rebounds per game leads the Panthers.
He had his worst statistical game of the season on Saturday at Louisville, when he scored two points on 1 of 7 shooting and had three rebounds. In that game, Toney’s defensive assignment, Jordan Nwora, led the Cardinals in scoring after Toney had shut him down in Pitt’s previous matchup with Louisville.
Pitt has not yet announced who will replace Toney in the starting lineup, but junior wing Malik Ellison should be a likely fit.
The Panthers and Tigers tip off at 9 p.m. Pitt (12-8, 2-5 in ACC) is still looking for its first road win of the season. Pitt hasn’t beaten Clemson (11-8, 1-5 ACC) since Jan. 21, 2014 and has lost four straight to the Tigers. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
