Pitt’s Archie Collins was busy recruiting in Georgia today and offered two players from Westside High School including linebacker Jayland Parker.

Parker (6’0, 195) is a junior linebacker who told Pittsburgh Sports Now that he’s excited about the offer and the relationship that he’s forming with Collins.

“Last week during the Rams and Saints game I was talking with Coach Collins for awhile,” said Parker. “He was telling me how he liked my film and how I ran sideline to sideline making plays and how I play the game of football. He said he liked my playmaker mentality.”

”I’m feel very blessed and shocked by the offer. I thanked him for the opportunity and what he saw in me. I think Coach Collins is such a cool dude. Yesterday, he called me to let me know that he would be down here and we just ended up talking for 10 minute. I think him and I are going to end up having a good relationship throughout this recruiting process.”

At this point, Parker’s only other Power 5 offer is from Rutgers but is talked to Alabama and Tulane couple weeks ago and is scheduled to get a visit today from both Duke and Virginia.

”This is just a nervous time because I want to play college football and get a good education,” said Parker. “Everyday I’m wondering who the next school that will be walking in to see me.”

Parker appears to have serious interest in learning more about Pitt because he tells me that there’s a “very high chance” that he’ll be traveling to Pittsburgh this weekend for Junior Day. He says that Collins and Rob Harley really want to sit down with him and talk about a future at Pitt.
