Gameday: Malik Ellison to Miss Pitt’s Game Against NC State

PITTSBURGH — Alan Saunders and coach Doug Biega of Pittsburgh Sports Live break down the matchup between Pitt and NC State:

UPDATE, 1:45 PM:Pitt redshirt junior wing and team captain Malik Ellison will miss the Panthers’ game against NC State on Saturday, the team announced.

According to the team, Ellison suffered an undisclosed injury late in Pitt’s overtime loss at Wake Forest on Feb. 5.

Ellison played 31 minutes in that game and scored eight points. On the season, he’s averaging 22.3 minutes per game and 6.8 points per game.

Pitt freshman wing Au’Diese Toney, who missed Pitt’s game against Clemson on Jan. 29 with a right hand injury, has come off the bench the last two games while wearing a brace and playing limited minutes.

The team said that Ellison is not expected to miss an extended period of time. Pitt’s next game is at Boston College on Tuesday, Feb. 12.
