Pitt Pursuing 2020 Cornerback Lovie Jenkins

The stare of Florida is filled with highly skilled athletes and Lovie Jenkins fits that description.

Jenkins is a junior cornerback from Ocoee, Florida and is getting a lot of interest from the Pitt Panther staff.

Along with Pitt, Jenkins (6-foot-1, 180 pounds) holds a number of Division I offers like Central Florida and a Power 5 offer from Vanderbilt.

“I originally got the offer from coach Archie Collins while we were on FaceTime for like 15-20 minute,” Jenkins said to Pittsburgh Sports Now. “Coach Collins doesn’t officially recruit my area, coach Tim Salem does so they wanted to do things the right way. So, as soon as I got off the phone with Coach Collins, Coach Tim hit me up and also let me know that I had an offer.”

The reason Jenkins originally heard from Collins first is because of a close relationship he has with Jenkins’ high school coach.

“That was my first time talking with Coach Archie and didn’t know too much about him but I found out him and my coach are best of friends,” Jenkins said. “When my coach told him how good I was, he said that he wanted me.”

Jenkins actually received his first college offer from Central Michigan when Collins was still on their coaching staff.

He describes his biggest strengthens as his “wingspan, my height and I have very quick feet and quick hips.”

Jenkins interest in Pitt is real and tells PSN that he already has a trip scheduled to visit on June 14.

”I decided to already schedule a visit because of the Pitt coaches and the way they’ve shown me so much love,” he said. “Pitt has been in contact with me everyday or every other day. As long as they keep doing that, we’re real good.”

The tag team of Salem and Collins have taken on the recruitment of Jenkins.
