Following their official visit to Pitt, it was assumed by many that Julian and Justin Champagnie were slam dunks to give their commitments to Jeff Capel and the Panthers.
While that still might happen, the twins are at least investigating other programs to make sure they’re making the right decision.
Pittsburgh Sports Now communicated with Julian Champagnie Saturday afternoon, who confirmed that he and his brother are making an unofficial visit to St. John’s for the Red Storm’s game against Seton Hall.
That won’t be their only visit this week.
Julian said that on Sunday, the twins will visit Rutgers for the Scarlet Knights’ game against Minnesota and then next weekend, they’ll make an official visit to Dayton.
Barring any late offers, the twins will pick between a final four of Pitt, Rutgers, St. John’s and Dayton.
They’re going elsewhere. When kids of this generation (both fball and hoops) keep visiting other schools and want to keep options open, that usually means they werent sold on the school that some expected them to commit to in the first place.
Capel has many irons in the fire – if the twins go elsewhere, pitt’s gonna be fine.
I agree with both of your points. It’s probably a bit concerning for Pitt that two of the schools are “hometown schools”
Others keep telling me they will end up committing to Pitt but something is telling me they end up at Rutgers or Dayton. If they were sold on Pitt there would be no need to take anymore visits so there more than likely going to another school it’s hard to say which school has the scholarships to do so.
I’m attempting to talk to them today
