In a couple weeks, Pat Narduzzi and his staff will start hosting a number of junior recruits as they start to work on forming their Class of 2020.
One of the many of players that will travel to Pittsburgh is wide receiver Chris Scott.
Scott is a 3-star recruit from Pickerington North High School in Pickerington, Ohio. At this point, Scott’s biggest offers are from Pitt, Boston College, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Michigan and Rutgers.
“The person that’s recruiting me is Coach Bates but I also talk with Coach Paris Johnson. He’s actually the first coach from Pitt that I spoke with,” said Scott. “They’ve spoken to me highly about Pitt not just athletic wise but academic wise, the area and things of that nature.”
”Coach Bates has been really trying to get me back down there because the only time I was there was for a game. I’m actually a huge Steelers fan so being in that stadium was really big for me.”
The thing that stands out athletically about Scott is his size (6’2”) and that’s something that the coaches who are recruiting him really like.
”I’ve heard from coaches that my awareness and ball skills are great,” said Scott. “Also, with me being a bigger receiver, I try to work on my speed and quickness which are things that I feel I can always improve on. My maturity is something else that’s come up with coaches that they’re impressed with. Whether it’s blocking, catching, running harder, tackling, I do whatever I can to help my team win.”
Aside from his relationship with the coaches and players, Scott tells me that academics will be a big factor in the school that he eventually decides on.
“That’s going to be huge. I want to go to a place where academics are big at the university. I want to go to a place where I know they have my best interests off the field too. That they’ll do whatever they can to help with academic support. Football isn’t going to last forever so academics will play a huge part in the school that I choose.”
As far as possible spring visits, Scott tells me that Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Purdue, Indiana, Virginia and Virginia Tech are possible trips he’ll try to make.
As far as Pitt goes, Scott is still in process of getting a set date due to his basketball team being in the playoffs. Although he doesn’t know an exact date, it will be sometime in March.
