Pitt’s Xavier Johnson Named to All-ACC Freshman Team

Published

on

Pitt point guard Xavier Johnson received a tremendous individual honor today from the conference.

Johnson became the first Pitt player to be named to the All-ACC Freshman Team. Joining him are Duke’s trio of Zion Williamson, RJ Barrett, Tre Jones and North Carolina’s Coby White.

Johnson finished the regular season averaging 15.6 points per game and was the only player in the ACC averaging at least 15 points per game and 4.5 assists per game.

Despite being so young, the Virginia native was the unquestioned leader of Jeff Capel’s team. Johnson’s impressive season saw him set Pitt freshman records in points scored (485), points per game (15.6), 20+ point games (8), double-figure scoring games (27), games with 15 or more points scored (16) and free throws (148).
