Jayland Parker Becoming Priority Recruit for Pitt’s Class of 2020

As Pat Narduzzi attempts to expand Pitt’s recruiting map to some southern states, it sure looks like a player from Georgia is high on their 2020 recruiting board.

Jayland Parker is an inside linebacker from Westside High School in Macon, Georgia. Along with Pitt, this 3-star recruit holds offers from Mississippi State, Virginia Tech, Duke, Kansas, Louisville, NC State, Purdue, Rutgers, Virginia and Wake Forest.

Pittsburgh Sports Now talked last night with Parker who appreciates the attention he’s getting from the Pitt staff and the strong relationship that he’s developed with them.

“Me, Coach Narduzzi, Coach Harley and Coach Collins, we talk everyday,” said Parker. “Coach Narduzzi is a cool, down to earth guy and I can tell that he really wants me to come to Pitt. I actually just opened a letter from him and Coach Harley saying that they’re on a mission to repeat as Coastal Division Champions and that I should be on their mission too. They write me all the time, I get mail from them every week.”

Parker realizes that every player that Pitt’s recruiting doesn’t get this sort of attention and he’s appreciative that he’s one of the players that’s become a “priority” for them.

“Knowing that I’m a top priority for them is a major thing for me. I know that they offer a ton of players but knowing and seeing the attention they’re showing me means a lot. They could be doing this to another player at my position but they’re giving this amount of attention to me which I appreciate.”

Obviously, Pitt isn’t the only major school that is recruiting Parker hard as he tells me that Mississippi State, NC State, Wake Forest, Duke and Virginia are also showing him a lot of interest.

Parker plans on announcing a Top 10 sometime in June and could also be making a visit to Pitt in the near future.
