Florida linebacker Ty Berrong Visiting Pitt Wednesday

Over the years, Pat Narduzzi has always said that if they can get a recruit to make a visit to Pittsburgh the rest will sell itself.

Early on for this recruiting class, Pitt has done just that by bringing in dozens of out of state recruits that hold offers from the team.

The latest example of that is 2020 Florida outside linebacker Ty Berrong (6’3″, 215) from Port Orange, Florida who will make an unofficial visits tomorrow. The 3-star recruit received an offer from Pitt back in January and also holds offers from Florida, Indiana, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, South Florida, Wake Forest, West Virginia, Purdue and Minnesota.

Pittsburgh Sports Now spoke with Berrong this morning to get his thoughts prior to visiting Pitt. First up, I asked him about what made him decide to visit since it’s a long distance from Florida to Pittsburgh.

“Yeah, the distance is hard to get up there and visit but what I’m doing it is because I’m heavily considering them and they love me so I really want to get up there and see how it is to watch a practice and see how they run things,” said Berrong. “I’m looking forward to seeing the whole campus and the facilities in general. I’m excited to go up there because everyone that’s talked to me about Pitt have nothing but amazing things to say about the university.”

“Coach Sanders and Coach Harley are both recruiting me. They’re recruiting me by just talking to me and creating a relationship and telling me all about Pitt and getting to know my mom and just really staying in touch.”
