Maryland Sophomore Center Ryan Linthicum to Visit Pitt This Week

Despite only being a sophomore, center Ryan Linthicum has been on Pitt’s radar for quite a bit.

The native of Damascus, Maryland received an offer from Andre Powell and the Panthers back in December. Since then, Linthicum (6’4″, 275) has also received ones from Ohio State, LSU, Michigan, Maryland and Virginia.

The Pitt coaches will have a chance to make an impression and work on that relationship because Linthicum tells Pittsburgh Sports Now that he’ll be visiting Pitt on Saturday.

We spoke to this talented lineman about his interest in Pitt and reason for coming for a visit.

“Since I’ve been watching Pitt, I’ve really liked the atmosphere and I get along really well with Coach Powell,” said Linthicum. “We’ve talked and he’s already told me that I’d be a perfect fit for their offensive line so I really want to check them out and see what Pitt is like.”

“I’m always going to take every school that offers me the same but the fact that Pitt offered me early just tells me that they really want me and I need to check them out, I can’t wait.”

Despite the fact that he’s able to play on both sides of the ball, Linthicum tells me that Pitt is strictly recruiting him to play center as are most of the other schools recruiting him.

“I’m just an aggressive player in general and really do a good job of finishing my blocks which is something that my high school coaches have ingrained in me since I was younger and I thank them for that. I’m just really aggressive,” said Linthicum.”

Following his visit to Pitt, Linthicum tells me that he’ll be visiting Michigan in a week or two, then Rutgers and is trying to make Oklahoma’s Spring Game on April 13.
