Baldwin sophomore defensive tackle Dorien Ford became the latest WPIAL player to receive an offer from Pitt.
Shortly after Ford announced the offer on Twitter, head coach Pat Narduzzi came out with this tweet.
That looks like a statement that Narduzzi is on a mission to keep as much local talent at home as possible.
One thing is clear and that’s Pitt is offering more local players than in previous seasons. With the offer today to Ford, seven local players hold offers from Pitt which equals the amount offered the last couple of seasons. Keep in mind, a few of those offers to players last year weren’t committable by years end so that total was more like five or six.
WPIAL Players With Pitt Offers:
2020: 7
2019: 8
2018: 7
Why? The answer could simply be that Narduzzi believes this crop of kids is more talented and worry of a scholarship than kids over the past couple of seasons.
What are Pitt’s chance of landing some of these WPIAL juniors and sophomores?
