Aliquippa quarterback Eli Kosanovich will walk on at Pitt, he announced on his Twitter account on Thursday.
The 6-foot, 195-pound passer, didn’t start until his senior season, but had a fantastic year, leading the Quips to WPIAL and PIAA championships in 2018.
He threw for 39 touchdowns and 3,189 yards, which was third in the WPIAL. He thrived in the new offense installed by first-year head coach Mike Warfield.
Quips’ QB Eli Kosanovich Leaves New Passing Legacy
Kosanovich received just one scholarship offer after his senior year, to Division II West Virginia State, but instead elected to walk on with the Panthers.
He’ll be going to Pitt with one of his most productive targets: wide receiver Will Gipson, who signed with Pitt in December. Redshirt sophomore center Kenny Rainey III is also an Aliquippa grad.
Pitt went through spring practices with five quarterbacks on their roster, with early enrollee freshman Davis Beville already in the fold, joining junior Kenny Pickett, redshirt senior Jeff George and redshirt freshmen Nick Patti and Justin Sliwoski (Hempfield). Kosanovich is the only quarterback currently expected to join the team for fall practice.
