Big Day for Westinghouse DE Dayon Hayes After Penn State Offer

Published

on

Pat Narduzzi saw the talent in Westinghouse junior Dayon Hayes and back in February became the first Power Five program to offer him.

Since then, a lot more programs are following his lead.

Today, James Franklin and Penn State became the latest to throw their hat in the ring by extending an offer to the talented 2020 City League defensive tackle.

“My reaction when Penn State offered was definitely different,” Hayes told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “ I woke up and I saw Coach Smith had texted me and said call him. So I called him we were just talking about how Penn State is just different from others school and they want me to be the hometown hero and stay in Pennsylvania.”

The talented defensive end now holds Power Five offers from PItt, Penn State, Wake forest and Syracuse.

Hayes tells me his next couple of weeks should be busy as he’s scheduled to get visits from West Virginia, North Carolina, Michigan and Ohio State just to name a few.

Just last week, Hayes attended Pitt spring practice and was surrounded by the Panther staff who have really prioritized him.

The question now is how does this offer from Penn State impact Hayes’ recruitment.

“Hometown hero” – That team in the East are a bunch of idiots and love saying stuff like this.
Would be great if the Pittsburgh media criticized PSU for offering after Pitt. What took them so long, since they are considered a local school I thought??

Yeah, them saying hometown hero when talking about staying in state is a little ridiculous.

Why is the school with a disgraced head coach, president awaiting incarceration and a $100 million legal bill headlined on PSN ? Why, why, why?

Because he is a big Pitt target and local. The kid is the focus not PSU.

No, PS is the focus, we already offered. That’s WAS the news. You don’t see PSN highlighting Michigan State offering him a scholarship.
