First Love 4-Star Guard DJ Gordon Gets Hometown Offer From Pitt

After patiently waiting for it, tonight the news finally arrived for First Love Academy 2020 4-star swingman DJ Gordon.

The super athletic Gordon got a phone call from Jeff Capel who told him he’d earned an offer from his hometown school Pitt.

Instead of having an assistant tell him or text him, Capel called Gordon himself to give him the news.

”He told me that he does things old-fashioned and that he likes to offer kids by himself instead of his assistants,” Gordon told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “He said when he was in high school if an assistant coach offered him it felt like nothing and stuck with that method as a head coach and that’s how he recruits.”

After giving him the offer, Capel explained to Gordon why now was the right time.

”He said that he wanted to make sure he saw me play enough and wanted to be totally comfortable offering me. He told me that he loved my game and loved how I played In AAU this past weekend.”

”Coach said he loved my overall game, likes how I get after it, the energy that I bring and believes that I’m a great teammate,” said Gordon.

Gordon has many high major offers but this one is different for obvious reasons.

“After he offered, I just thanked Coach Capel for offering me. This is special because I’m from the city and this is a Pittsburgh offer.”

It should be pointed out that Gordon’s mother is a graduate of Pitt.

Despite the news tonight, Gordon says his recruitment is wide open and that he still plans on making a final decision sometime in November.
