Considering the major coaching news yesterday in college basketball with Juwan Howard accepting the job at Michigan and with former star players Penny Hardaway at Memphis and Patrick Ewing at Georgetown, we’re going to have some fun. Here’s a HYPOTHETICAL question–because Jeff Capel has a long future ahead of him–if Pitt were to hire a former player to coach the basketball team, who would you want to see in charge of the program? (We’ll exclude current coaches Sean Miller and Kevin Willard.)

What, no Charles Smith on the list?
How about Jason “Air” Maile?
An article like this doesn’t make it any easier for Jeff Capel and staff build a program. We finally got a good coach and staff and the first thing you want to do is undermine them by putting out this type of article.
If you really think a hypothetical poll like this will have any impact on Jeff Capel’s program, you’re probably overestimating PSN’s influence justttttt a tad.
Personally would live to see Sam Young come back in a coaching capacity.
Come on guys. You can do better than this. I know you’re trying to get looks at your page but this is insulting to the Jeff Capel and his staff.
Oh lighten up.
Makes me wonder if I did the right thing when you were struggling to get PSN up and running to donate to your success. This is an article more in tune with the Centre Daily Times.
This is a poll. It’s not seriously advocating a change in leadership. No one is going to see this and think “oh we should fire Jeff Capel and hire a former Panther.”
