Former 5-Star Point Guard Jahvon Quinerly Making Official Pitt Visit

As Pittsburgh Sports Now reported to our Die-Hard members first, Pitt is getting a visit from a former 5-star recruit.

Former Villanova point guard Jahvon Quinerly will be on campus today to visit with Jeff Capel and the Panthers. On Sunday, Quinerly made an official to Nate Oats and Alabama.

From the sound of things, Jeff Capel is going to need to use his best recruiting pitch to land Quinerly. A source tells PSN that his visit to Alabama went extremely well and that they’re the clear team to beat.

It’s still unclear if and when Quinerly plans on visiting his other two finalists: Arkansas and Georgia.

Capel has been recruiting and has formed a relationship Quinerly going back to when he recruited him out of Hudson Catholic High School in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Pitt will no doubt stress to Quinerly that he’d have the opportunity to run the Pitt offense after the departure of sophomore Xavier Johnson. It’s been rumored that Johnson could leave for the NBA Draft as soon as after the upcoming season.

Wherever Quinerly decides to attend, he’ll have to sit a year and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

How about Pitt uses that later visit to sway a young man away from a school that others assumed to be in the lead. At some point, the deal needs closed. With all things being equal,… Read more »
