Poll: Do You Care if Pitt Plays Penn State Again?

Published

on

It was announced today that the final scheduled game between Pitt and Penn State will be played on September 14 and have a noon kickoff.

Heather Lyke has extended formal offers to Penn State’s athletic department about scheduling games in the future but has been rebuffed.

This, the 100th in the schools’ history, will be the final game between the two for the foreseeable future.

Our question for you is: do you even care if the two schools play each other in football ever again?

Do you care if Pitt ever plays Penn State again in football?

Do I want to see the game be played every year and continue to develop the rivalry? Absolutely I do! Is the schedule ruined and am I miserable if the game doesnt happen every year? Not really. I think the spectacle of the game and enviornment is amazing, however I would rather play WVU year in and out than PSU

There’s too much emotion (hatred) with West Virginia. Wear Pitt paraphernalia anywhere near the state border and you get dirty looks. A WVU supporter once tried to knock my Pitt hat off in the Outer Banks! No, it’s got to be shutdown for another decade.

Of course I care because I care about Pitt. It begins and ends there.

Due to Piddle State’s reputation, Pitt should only agree to play this game if the games are played in Pittsburgh. Creepy Valley is not someplace anyone with children should visit. Or anyone that believes in Truth & Virtue.

Idiotic answer. Nice job living up to The stereotype of a Pitt fan. Penn State played almost every game in Pittsburgh for the first half of the 20th century. 70% of the games in the series have been played in Pittsburgh. Pitt used their Leverage as the stronger program to make Penn State agree to their terms. Well, there’s no doubt which program is stronger now in every measurable way. and it’s pretty much been that way since the 1960s, except from the mid-70s to the early 80s when it was actually competitive. Pitt could agree to a 2-1 ratio.… Read more »

Get lost Nitter. Times change and circumstances, too. When games were played in Pittsburgh in the 20s and 30s, Pitt was a national powerhouse – at a time when college football was 2nd only to pro baseball as a pastime. PSU was like a warm-up game then… Jock Sutherland NEVER lost to PSU. Beaver Stadium was a hick venue when regional city schools (Duquesne, Carnegie Tech, even W&J and Geneva) were comparable schools within 20 miles. Pitt foolishly let its football program fall in priority until the Majors/Sherrill era. And then, again stupidly, allowed that to happen again. PSU’s air… Read more »

stop the every year game. Someday it would make for a great bowl game. How about an NCAA title game.

Living through the deceit and sanctimony of the JoePa era, I am one for running away from this “rivalry”. Additionally, the funds PS wastes on entertainment (that’s what it is) is criminal. But then they have proven they are criminal. Still don’t understand why the President was released from serving his jail time.
This article is all about creating controversy and entertainment.

You’re just jealous the it took having a Heisman Trophy winner for Pitt to have a chance to beat Paterno.

Wow! The great Paterno? GodPa. The person whom a strangely large percentage of PSU alums embraced as an ersatz father figure. Only to find that his pride and arrogance led him to willingly neglect a predatory pedophile on his staff (for 30 years) in order to maintain his holier-than-thou perception.

He was FIRED at the end of his career. And if still alive, would have been send to prison, too.

Did you take English composition?

Jealous, I matriculated to PS but as an 18-year old knew his sanctimony was false. I just didn’t know how false. He was right “The Penn State way”. Unique beyond all measures.

Why does PCN (read John Stagerwald) continue to beat this dead horse? We play Virginia to kick off the 2019 ACC season and all PCN wants to talk about is the past. Let it be the past. What about Virginia?

What’s PCN? Also John Stagerwald [sic] hasn’t written a column here for a long time.

To help PSN, I donated $$ in the early days. So My fingers hit the wrong buttons. And whether, it’s you or your brother, you both are living in the past, ACC baby.

He’s an uncle. But thanks for the donation… anyway that was our most popular poll of all time so sometimes you just have to stir the pot a little.

Almost 2 generations have no idea about the Pitt/PSU rivalry. No need to be living in the past….move on!

I don’t think it’s a good idea if we keep losing.
