Jeff Capel is exploring every possible avenue in order to add size to his front court for this coming season.
The latest player being looked at is Eric Hamilton.
Hamilton (6’9”, 250) is a graduate transfer power forward from UNC-Greensboro. He returned a message last night from PSN and confirmed that he made a visit to Pitt on Tuesday.
For the past two seasons, Hamilton has played for UNCG. Last season, he averaged 16 minutes, 6.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in 35 games of action.
Prior to playing at UNCG, Hamilton started his college career at Wichita State where he arrived as a 3-star recruit from Duluth High School in Atlanta, Georgia. In 47 games with Wichita State, Hamilton 4 points and 1.5 rebounds per game.
Back in mid-May, Hamilton announced that he would be leaving UNCG and would play his final season of college basketball elsewhere.
Capel still has at least three available scholarships left for 2019 so that isn’t an issue for Pitt.
Hamilton would provide Pitt with a big front court presence and Pitt would only be invested in him for one year.
PSN has messages into Hamilton and hopes to talk to him at some point today.
UNCG…u gotta be kidding. Reminds me of Dixon’s final couple years, where he was so desperate for big men, he was dumpster diving. I would imagine this kid, would be a practice player. But our bigs won’t get any better going up against him.
This.
Desperation now means were recruiting non-starters from a Southern conf school.
Capel can recruit but at a place like Pitt, he’s only going to help his recruiting by winning and he needs a 20 win season next yr.
