GREEN TREE — Pitt athletic director Heather Lyke wants you to contact your cable or satellite company and say “I want my ACC.”
Lyke, as part of a concerted push by the conference to increase the ACC Network’s carriage in advance of its August launch, spoke with local media on Wednesday morning to discuss the launch of the network and explain how crucial it is that Pitt fans express their desire to watch the network to their television provider.
So far, the ACC has inked deals with DirecTV and Verizon Fios, but regionally important providers Armstrong, Comcast and Dish Network have not signed on. Viewers with one of those providers that want to watch Pitt’s games on the network like the Panthers’ 2019 debut on Aug. 31 against Virginia, will still be able to, if they purchase a subscription through Hulu Live or ESPN Plus, but it’s still very important to Pitt that those cable providers feel the pressure to carry the network, because that’s the way the conference gains revenue.
