Graduate transfer Eric Hamilton is officially a member of the Pitt basketball team after signing with them Monday morning.
Hamilton (6’9″, 250) joins the Panthers after playing the last two seasons for UNC Greensboro, where he averaged 6.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, while shooting 59.1% from the field in just 16 minutes per game.
Hamilton becomes the fifth member of Jeff Capel’s 2019 recruiting class, joining Justin Champagnie, Gerald Drumgoole, Karim Coulibaly and JUCO guard Ryan Murphy.
“Eric is an experienced post player with a winning mentality,” said Jeff Capel. “We like his athleticism and believe he was the tools to be an impact player in our program. He has shown the instincts, strength and effort level to be a high volume rebounder.”
Capel referred to Hamilton’s winning mentality because he’s been a part of three teams that have played in the NCAA Tournament (UNC Greensboro and Wichita State). Hamilton’s record on the last three teams he’s played on has been 88-21.
Hamilton has a good chance of joining Terrell Brown down low in Pitt’s 2019-20 starting five.
