2020 linebacker Gerrien Christopher is a player that Pitt is closely evaluating and determining whether or not to offer him a scholarship.
Christopher (6’0″, 190), who attends Life Christian Academy in Chester, Virginia, was in town on Sunday participating in Pitt’s prospect camp and was being closely watched by Pat Narduzzi, Rob Harley and his staff. Although he can play safety too, Pitt is recruiting him as a linebacker.
“I’ve been talking to Pitt for a while now and have been talking a lot with Coach Beatty,” Christopher told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “I’ve known Coach Beatty since he was at Maryland. He’s trying to get kids from my area to Pitt.”
“I believe I performed pretty well for the Pitt coaches today (Sunday). I think I showed them that I’m a very coachable kid, that I’m versatile and can fit in and play different positions and situations. I talked with the coaches afterwards and as far as a scholarship goes, they said that they were going to evaluate what I did and be in touch.”
Aside from the fact that he really likes and the staff, an offer from Pitt would be big for Christopher because it would be his second Power Five offer (Tennessee) and his first one from the ACC.
One other thing to point out is that Christopher attended the camp on Sunday with teammate 2020 cornerback Antonio Webb Jr., someone that holds an offer from Pitt.
