4-Star Defensive Back Enzo Jennings Ready to Visit Pitt

Pat Narduzzi and his staff have gotten one of the top defensive backs in the country to make an official visit this coming weekend.

4-star athlete Enzo Jennings from Oak Park, Michigan tells Pittsburgh Sports Now that he’ll make his second official visit this weekend to Pitt. Considering his offer list and the fact that recruits only get five official visits, this is a big deal for Pitt.

Jennings holds offers from Penn State, Auburn, Notre Dame, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Texas A&M and West Virginia.

Without a doubt, the biggest factor for Jennings making a trip here is his long-standing relationship with defensive backs coach Archie Collins.

“Coach Archie, that’s my guy,” Jennings told Pittsburgh Sports Now this morning. “I want to go down there and kick it with him and see everything that Pitt has to offer.”

“Coach Archie is just a genuine guy and you can feel that when you talk with him. I’ve been talking and getting to know him since my 9th grade season. He actually was the second coach to offer me when he was at Central Michigan. I’ve been with him at camps and he’s always coached me up and taught me a lot. When he went to Pittsburgh last year, he offered me and we’ve continued our relationship.”

While Jennings relationship with Collins is a big reason for visiting, it’s not the only reason as he tells me he’s seriously considering Pitt.

“I’m not just going on this visit because of Coach Archie. He tells me about Pitt, what they can do for me and I need to come see for myself. Plus, every time I talk to him, he tells me that he needs a tall cornerback or safety. I hear that from him and I like that a lot.”

The Pitt staff will no doubt be looking to impress Jennings and make him feel at home. What in particular is he going to be looking for on this trip to Pittsburgh?

“I know about Coach Archie but I need to feel the vibe from the rest of the coaches,” said Jennings. “I want to really talk with them and also talk with the players on the team. I want to see how they operate and see how things feel there and whether it would be a good fit for me.”

Jennings tells me that after this weekend, his next official visit will be to Penn State next weekend. He’ll then have taken three official visits: Kentucky, Pitt and Penn State, with two more to take. He knows that when it comes time to make a college choice, it’ll be one of the hardest decisions of his life.

“As soon as all these offers came in, I realized how hard this was going to be. It was hard just getting my list down to my final eleven because of the relationships you’ve formed with these coaches. Every coach seems so cool and you want to go to every school but you can’t and can only pick one. This is going to be really hard.”

I like Pitt’s efforts in recruiting, but I’d like to see Naz go after more 4s and 5s instead of 95% 3s.

It’s not going after them that’s the problem. It’s beating out the blue-chips for their services!
