Hurdler Syndi Townsend has already had a spectacular first year representing Pitt, participating in both the ACC and NCAA championships and earning All-America honors in the 400-meter hurdles.
Next, she’s going to race to represent her country.
Townsend has been selected to participate in the 2019 US Track and Field under-20 Outdoor Championships this Saturday at Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Florida.
Townsend will once again participate in the 400-meter hurdles, which is currently scheduled to be run at 4:52 p.m. Saturday afternoon. She’ll be placed in one of three heats. The top two finishers in each heat along with the next two best finishers advance to the final on Sunday.
The two top times in the final will qualify for Team USA in the Pan American Championships.
Townsend was the first Pitt hurdler to place in the national championships since 2006. Her season-best time was 57.86 seconds.
Good Luck Syndi… GO FOR IT! FLY!
