Pitt Basketball to Play 3 Games in Italy

The Pitt men’s basketball team is a week away from their trip to Italy and today we learned their on and off-court itinerary.

On Thursday August 8th, the Panthers will face the Netherlands National B Team at Palafonte Rome Europe at 1 p.m. ET. The team will travel to Florence and face Florence All-Stars at Palamacchia in Livorno, Italy, August 10th. Tip-off is set for 1 PM Eastern. The final game of the trip will be played on Sunday August 11th in Vicenza against the Vicenza All-Stars at 2 PM Eastern at Palazetto dello Sport.

This 10-day, eight night trip beginning August 5th will be about more than just basketball. During their stay, Pitt’s travel party will have guided tours of the Colosseum, Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and Pantheon in Rome, Duomo, Gates of Paradise, Ponte Vecchio, Mercato Centrale food market and San Lorenzo leather market in Florence, the city of Venice in addition to a walking culinary tour of the city of Bologna. The team will say, “Ciao” to their Italian adventure and return to Pittsburgh on August 14th.

These types of summer trips are pretty awesome benefits to being a basketball student athlete – you get a free trip to Italy. Nice!
