In what has become a common theme this summer, Jeff Capel’s program has landed on the final list for a top player.
Class of 2020 four-star point guard Myles Tate has narrowed his list of college options to seven and that list includes Pitt. Tate (6-foot, 170 pounds) named a final seven of: Pitt, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Butler, the College of Charleston, Murray State and Appalachian State.
Last season at Dorman High School in Roebuck, South Carolina, Tate averaged 17.1 points, 5.3 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game while leading his school to their third straight Class-5 state championship.
247 Sports ranks Tate as a Top 100 player in the Class of 2020 and one of the Top 20 points guards.
It should be mentioned that his hometown school of South Carolina was the first program to offer him. However, Tate told Pittsburgh Sports Now after receiving the Pitt offer, that he’s a big fan of Jeff Capel and that he has a close relationship with fellow South Carolina native Trey McGowens.
Tate is one of three 2020 point guards that Capel is seriously recruiting: four-star R.J. Davis and four-star Andre Curbelo. As PSN previously reported, Davis will be making an unofficial visit to Pitt tomorrow.
