All 105 is a Pittsburgh Sports Now series profiling each of the 105 members of Pitt’s 2019 training camp roster.
3 • Damar Hamlin, senior safety
Last year: Started every game for Pitt for the first time in his career, making 14 starts at free safety as a junior.
Stats: Made 90 tackles to lead the Panthers. Also had three tackles for loss, two interceptions, a fumble recovery and four pass breakups.
Accolades, Highlights:
Named to watch list for Bednarik Award for the best defensive player.
Camp outlook: Will have a new safety partner after the graduation of Dennis Briggs, with redshirt sophomore Paris Ford and redshirt senior Jazzee Stocker expected to battle for that spot.
Communication is key in Pitt’s secondary, so the adjustment to a new starter will be the biggest thing to watch for Pitt’s very experienced returning unit.
Projected role: Will start and play almost every meaningful snap for Pitt, as long as he’s healthy.
