2020 4-Star Foward Earl Timberlake to Make Pitt Official Visit

When Jeff Capel was hired a year ago, most people expected him to get in the door and eventually land high level players.

While some fans thought that would happen immediately, which is unrealistic, it appears it’s starting to slowly happen in year number two.

Over the last few days, Pitt hosted 4-star players R.J. Davis, Donovan Johnson and Jalen Bridges and will be hosting another one in the near future.

PSN confirmed that 4-star forward Earl Timberlake (DeMatha Catholic/Hyattsville, Maryland) will be making an official visit to Pitt on the weekend of August 30th. This news was first reported by Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers.com. Weingarten also says that Timberlake’s only other official visit (to this point) will be to Miami in mid-September.

A couple weeks back, Timberlake listed a Top 7 of Pitt, Miami, Providence, Alabama, North Carolina, Seton Hall and South Carolina.

Timberlake (6’6″, 215), who’s ranked as the #1 2020 prospect in Maryland and the 28th overall player in the Class of 2020, is the highest rated prospect that Capel is legitimately involved with and someone that scouts already refer to as having an NBA future.

PSN has spoke with Timberlake multiple times in the past and he’s consistently referenced Capel’s tenacity in recruiting him and his close relationship with current Panthers Xavier Johnson and Trey McGowens as his biggest draws to Pitt.

While it’s probably still a longshot of Pitt landing Timberlake, it’s never a bad thing to get the player to visit your campus. By the way, August 30th is opening weekend for Pitt football so it wouldn’t be shocking to find out that Capel brings in other players to visit that weekend.
