All 105 is a Pittsburgh Sports Now series profiling each of the 105 members of Pitt’s 2019 training camp roster.
9 • Saleem Brightwell, redshirt senior linebacker
Last year: Played in all 14 games for Pitt and made one start, playing mostly at Money outside linebacker after spending 2017 as a starter at middle linebacker.

Camp outlook: Pitt will replace all three starting linebackers from 2018, and Brightwell has the most experience of any of the players that are battling for a job. He also has the versatility of having played at middle and Money linebacker. He’ll be battling with Elias Reynolds inside and with Phil Campbell III, Kyland Johnson and Chase Pine outside.
Projected role: It’s a true toss-up at the linebacker spots, but the versatile and experienced Brightwell will almost certainly play a larger part in Pitt’s defense in his final year with the Panthers.
I always thought he was better than the starters we had last year.
