Pitt Men’s Basketball Overwhelms Florence All-Stars, 103-53

One of Jeff Capel’s freshman had a breakout performance today as Pitt impressively defeated the Florence All-Stars, 103-53.

Freshman Justin Champagne filled up the stat sheet with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocks and 2 steals as he was named the Player of the Game.

Other Panthers to record double digits were Trey McGowens (15), Terrell Brown (14), Xavier Johnson (16) and Ryan Murphy (15).

For the game, Pitt shot 50.6% from the field, hit 7 three-pointers, forced 35 turnovers and recorded 25 steals, led by Gerald Drumgoole with seven.

JUCO transfer Ryan Murphy was impressive for the second straight game with 15 points (three 3-pointers), 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.

Next up for Pitt will be a game in Venice on Monday against Vicenza All-Stars.
