Die-Hards: 2021 Guard Visits Pitt, Offer Coming?

Pittsburgh Sports Now has confirmed another visit this week by the Pitt basketball staff and it’ll be to a player that made an unofficial visit to Pitt over the weekend.

PSN talked to this prospect that’s on Pitt’s radar who’s really hoping to get that offer later this week.

Over the weekend, Pitt hosted 2021 shooting guard EJ Farmer (6’4”, 160) from Lutheran East High School in Cleveland, Ohio.

At this point, Farmer is waiting on that first offer but it appears Pitt might be first to pull the trigger. Aside from Pitt, Farmer tells PSN he’s hearing from Michigan State, Cincinnati, Ohio State, Duquesne, Xavier and Purdue.

Farmer made the short drive from Ohio and made his first visit to Pitt. While here, he attended the Pitt-Ohio game and got a tour of the Pitt campus.

”My main recruiter at Pitt has been Coach O’Toole,” Farmer told PSN. “He’s been talking to me for the last 2-3 months.”

”He invited me earlier to visit but he had to make a trip out of town and we rescheduled it. I’m glad I came because it was really, really nice I’m not going to lie to you. Pitt just had a different vibe and I really liked everything I saw there. That visit really gave me something to think about.”

I followed up by asking Farmer since he liked it so much, what stood out to him the most?

”I liked my talk with coach and him telling me about the culture of the team and how Pitt is one big family. That really made an impression on me because I love my family.”

Farmer won’t have to wait long to hear from Pitt again as he tells me that O’Toole is coming to his open gym practice this Thursday.

”They love me and told me that they can’t wait to come see me on Thursday. I’m pretty much thinking that if I do well then the offer will be coming,” said Farmer.

”An offer from Pitt would mean a lot to me. Words can’t even describe what it would mean to me.”

Farmer says that he’s someone that can play the point as well as at shooting guard. He lists his strengths as shooting the three, can get to the basketball easily and has a good mid-range game.

Farmer says that if he gets that offer on Thursday that Pitt “would be very high on my list.”
