Pitt Makes Final Five for 2020 Center Ebenezer Dowuona

The Pitt basketball program hosted two players on official visits this past weekend and from all accounts things went well.

Following those visits, both players revealed a list of finalists and the Panthers made the cut for both.

On Tuesday, we told you about 2020 4-star forward John Hugley narrowing his list down to three and that he’d be making his decision in two weeks. Late last night, Ebenezer Dowuona listed Pitt on his list of his final five teams.

Dowuona (6’10”, 225) is a center from the Heritage School in Newnan, Georgia and named a final five of Pitt, NC State, San Diego State, South Florida and Denver. Rivals and 247 Sports rate Dowuona as a 3-star recruit while ESPN lists him as a 4-star recruit and the 18th best senior center in the country.

Dowuona did not set a date on which he’d be making his college decision.

Pitt is now a finalist for Hugley, Dowuona, Josh Hall and Cliff Omoruyi so it’ll be interesting how this develops in terms of which players decide first and how that will impact the other players on this list.

Although Pitt likes all of them, of the four players listed, my guess is that Omoruyi is the only one that can commit anytime that he wants to. In other words, if someone were to commit to Pitt, that could impact the scholarship availability roster spot of one of these other three players. Hall is the only one of those three players that hasn’t made either an official or unofficial visit to Pitt.

3-star stretch forward Noah Collier (Westtown, Pennsylvania) was the first member in Capel’s Class of 2020. It’s uncertain as to how many players Pitt will be taking in this class and that could be impacted by what sophomore point guard Xavier Johnson decides to do in terms of the NBA Draft at the conclusion of the season.
