Former Pitt defender James Folston, Jr. is one of the first group of players to be announced as part of the 2019 XFL Draft.

The draft will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 15 and Wednesday, Oct. 16 and will result in 71-man roster being selected for each of the eight teams.

The league is expecting around 1,000 players in total to be in the draft pool.

Folston played defensive end at Pitt but has been a linebacker as a professional. After graduating this spring, he spent time with the Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans and Green Bay Packers. He had two tackles and a sack in one preseason game with Green Bay.

In four seasons at Pitt, Folston has 47 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. He also blocked a punt. Folston is a Cocoa, Florida native and the son of former NFL linebacker James Folston, Sr.
