A former Pitt Panther standout is returning to the basketball program.
Jeff Capel has announced the hiring of former Pitt guard Ronald Ramon to his staff as an assistant director of operations. In this position, Ramon will help the staff with recruiting visit logistics, alumni engagement and community service activities.
Ramon just finished his playing career which included stays in Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Venezuela.
“We are thrilled to add Ronald to our staff,” said Capel. It is important to me to have a former player and someone who has had the honor of wearing the Pitt jersey on our staff. Ronald’s knowledge of game, relationships in the community and with alumni, and passion for Pitt Basketball will be significant assets as we continue to build our culture here at Pitt. He was an outstanding player here at Pitt and will be an outstanding addition to our staff.”
The former three-point specialist finished his Pitt career with 1,096 points, 254 rebounds, 339 assists and 100 steals. More importantly, Ramon was part of a winning culture that went to four NCAA tournaments, a Big East Championship and finished his Panther career with an overall record of 101-35.
This. Is. Awesome. We spanned the same 4 years at Pitt. Glad to see this hire.
