First Love’s D.J. Gordon Commits to Penn State

First Love Christian Academy shooting guard D.J. Gordon has committed to Penn State, he announced on his Twitter account on Wednesday evening.

Gordon, a 6-foot-6 Pittsburgh native, is a senior at First Love, a private school in Washington, Pa. He’s a consensus three-star prospect according and is the No. 2 player in the state of Pennsylvania and No. 2 player in Western Pa. according to 247 Sports composite rankings.

Gordon had visited Pitt several times. He chose the Nittany Lions over a host of high-major offers include Pitt, Arizona State, Cincinnati, DePaul, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, South Florida, Providence, Rutgers, St. John’s, TCU, Virginia Tech and Wichita State.

Gordon is the third player in the Penn State 2020 recruiting class, joining Massachusetts point guard Dallion Johnson and Pottstown, Pa. small forward Caleb Dorsey.

He’s the third 2020 player from First Love to commit to a Division I school, joining shooting guard Jett Roesing (Duquesne) and point guard Isaiah Wilson (Richmond).

Gordon is the second player from Western Pa. to commit to a major-conference school, joining Butler guard Ethan Morton.

Pitt was not actively recruiting him further. This was no surprise.
