Pitt Volleyball Continues Winning Ways, Sweeps NC State

Published

on

A dominant week from the entire Pitt athletic department wrapped up on Sunday as the Panthers volleyball team dominated and swept NC State, which was their 14th sweep of the 2019 season.

The win today by the #3 ranked  Panthers (19-1, 8-0) was their 30th win in a row at the Fitzgerald Field House, which is a school record. Speaking of dominance, here’s a stat that shows how well Pitt has played this well in ACC play- Pitt has dropped just one set out of 25 in league play.

Redshirt senior outside hitter Stephanie Williams led Pitt with eight kills, eight digs, two aces and two blocks. Senior middle Layne Van Bushirk added seven kills as did middle Sabrina Starks, while junior Kayla Lund contributed seven kills and seven digs.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
*Pitt’s last loss at the Field House came on October 22, 2017 against NC State.

*Their 8-0 start in the ACC is the third straight year they’ve accomplished this.

*When ranked in the Top 10, Pitt’s all-time record is now 36-2. When in the Top 5, Pitt is 9-1.

Next up for Pitt will be a road trip on Friday at Notre Dame and then on Sunday at #23 Louisville.
