Pitt Sights and Sounds: Bye/UNC Week

PITTSBURGH — Pitt bounced back (after their loss to Miami) last Saturday with a 20-10 win on the road against Georgia Tech.

The Panthers improved to (6-3, 3-2 ACC), which put’s them in second place in the Coastal, a half game behind Virginia (6-3, 4-2).

College football’s scheduling this year is a bit different from past years. Pitt is in their second off week of the season. They will pick back up Thursday Nov. 14 at Heinz Field against North Carolina.

Pitt will surely use this week to improve and strive to clean up some of their mishaps that have been apparent in their last few games. Against Georgia Tech, the Panthers turned the ball over three times. Dropped passes have also been a key in the recent offensive struggles.

The Pitt defense has kept up their stellar play. Their next challenge, North Carolina, has averaged 27.9 points per game and are led by freshman quarterback Sam Howell. UNC ranks third in the ACC in passing yards (277.4).

Pitt was practicing inside at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on Thursday morning. The Panthers are continuing to push for an ACC Coastal championship berth. North Carolina trails Pitt by one game in the standings.
