The national appearance and credibility of the 2020 Pitt football recruiting class continues to improve as another one of its members star status has been elevated.
Westinghouse defensive end Dayon Hayes has been raised to a 4-star recruit by 247 Sports. Hayes (6’3″, 250) was a huge get for Pat Narduzzi who beat out programs such as Ohio State, Penn State, West Virginia, Texas A&M and Michigan State to land him.
With this news, seven players in Pitt’s Class of 2020 are now 4-star recruits: Hayes, wide receiver Jordan Addison (Frederick, Maryland), wide receiver Aydin Henningham (Deerfield Beach, Florida), safety Jahvante Royal (Fort Lauderdale, Florida), linebacker Bangally Kamara (Akron, Ohio), wide receiver Jaylon Barden (Macon, Georgia) and offensive tackle Branson Taylor (Ohio).
After the recruiting analysts at Rivals, 247 Sports and ESPN review the performances of all the high school recruits, it wouldn’t be surprising if a couple other Panther commitments get bumped to 4-star players in particular running back Henry Parrish (Miami, Florida) and athlete Solomon Deshields (Millville, New Jersey).
Back in their Class of 2016, Pitt got commitments from five 4-star recruits (per Rivals): cornerback Damar Hamlin, defensive tackle Amir Watts, athlete George Hill, linebacker Kaezon Pugh and wide receiver Ruben Flowers.
