PITTSBURGH — Pitt wide receiver Maurice Ffrench will be out against North Carolina on Thursday night at Heinz Field.
ESPN reported that Ffrench suffered a fractured mandible in the Georgia Tech game and that he hopes to be back for the game versus Georgia Tech. Pitt announced 20 minutes before the game that Ffrench is out due to “health reasons.”
Ffrench currently leads the ACC and ranks third nationally, averaging 8.3 receptions per game. His 75 catches through Panthers’ first nine games are fifth-most in a season for Pitt.
Ffrench and junior Taysir Mack are the most productive receiving duo in the ACC and rank third-nationally (128 combined receptions).
Pitt will look for guys like sophomore wideout Shocky Jacques-Louis and senior Aaron Mathews to pick up the slack from Ffrench’s absence.
But no targeting call. Typical ACC refs.
