PITTSBURGH — After 13 hours, a few thousand photos, and four WPIAL Championship football games here is a gallery of all the action from Saturday at Heinz Field.
CLASS 1-A Clairton vs. Sto-Rox
The first game of the afternoon, Clairton took home their 14th title by shutting down a prolific Sto-Rox offense, winning 41-19.
CLASS 3-A Central Valley vs. Aliquippa
A smash-mouth, defense first game that literally came down to the final play as CV stopped Aliquippa on a two-point conversion in overtime to secure a 14-13 victory.
CLASS 4-A Thomas Jefferson vs. Belle Vernon
The unstoppable Jaguars rolled over Belle Vernon, 41-7, for their 4th WPIAL Championship in the last 5 years.
CLASS 6-A Central Catholic vs. Pine-Richland
Last night’s final matchup featured two prestigious schools battling it out for 6-A supremacy, Central Catholic and the defending champions, Pine-Richland. A defensive struggle culminated in a 10-7 win for Central Catholic.
