PIAA Football Quarterfinal Matchups Set

Next up for the 2019 WPIAL football championship teams are first round games in the PIAA playoffs.

Right now, it’s been determined that Clairton, Central Valley, Thomas Jefferson and Central Catholic will all have games this weekend. Two more WPIAL teams will advance following this coming weekends championship games between Peters Township vs. Gateway and Avonworth vs. Washington.

Here are the specific dates for the PIAA games and rounds:

Quarterfinals: November 22 or 23 (Regional Sites)

Semi-Finals: November 29 or 30 (Regional Sites)

Championships: December 5, 6 & 7 (Hershey Park Stadium, Hershey)

PIAA 1A Football Championship:

Clairton gets a double bye to the semifinals, where they will take on the winner of Coudersport vs. Farrell, which will be played on Friday, Nov. 22 at DuBois Middle School.

PIAA 2A Football Championship:

The winner of the Washington vs. Avonworth WPIAL Championship at Norwin on Saturday will take on the winner of Wilmington vs. Ridgway-Johnsonburg. That game is being played on Friday at Slippery Rock University.

PIAA 3A Football Championship:

Central Valley gets a double bye to the semifinals and will take on the winner of Sharon vs. Bald Eagle Area. That game will be played at Clarion University on Friday.

PIAA 4A Football Championship:

Thomas Jefferson vs. Erie Cathedral Prep, Nov. 22 at North Hills High School, 7 p.m.

PIAA 5A Football Championship:

The winner of Peters Township vs. Gateway at Norwin on Saturday will play the winner of Archbishop Wood vs. Southern Leigh.

PIAA 6A Football Championship:

Central Catholic vs. State College, Nov. 22 at North Allegheny High School, 7 p.m.
