Former Jeannette Star Terrelle Pryor Wants Call from Hometown Steelers

Former Jeannette, Ohio State and NFL quarterback and wide receiver Terrelle Pryor is ready to return to the NFL.

But he only wants to play for one team: his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers

That was the message Pryor, 30, sent to his Instagram followers on Sunday. Pryor was placed on injured reserve this August by the Jacksonville Jaguars with a hamstring injury. He was later waived with an injury settlement, making him a free agent.

Pryor said he’s turned down offers from other teams because he’s holding out to play for the Steelers.

“Ready to play for the home crowd,” Pryor wrote on his Instagram story. “I’m not playing ball unless it’s [with] my home team. Turned down teams weeks ago. Money ain’t my motivation. Bringing the chip here again is. I’m finally healthy. [Steelers GM Kevin] Colbert, let’s go.”

Pryor, a full-time wide receiver since 2017, has played with the Oakland Raiders, Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Washington Redskins, New York Jets and Buffalo Bills.

He sees a spot for him on the Steelers, and with starter JuJu Smith-Schuster and rookie backup Diontae Johnson both suffering concussions in Thursday’s loss to the Cleveland Browns, there may be a need.

“Man, me [and] JuJu on outside, 18 and James in slot!” Pryor wrote. “Command 2 high safeties ima go hit the safety the running backs got free lanes. If they play cover 1 hit um w slants comebacks and go balls all game. Can’t stop it. Bring leadership. The right leadership w the young guys in the building. Do more for Pittsburgh. Visit children hospitals hand out holiday items. And watch film non stop. LFG Mr Colbert!!”

The Steelers do not have opening on their 53-man roster after signing wide receiver Dion Cain and running back Kerrith Whyte, Jr. over the weekend.
