Postgame Reaction from Pitt’s Loss to Boston College

PITTSBURGH — The Pitt Panthers finished the 2019 regular season at 7-5 after losing 26-19 to Boston College at Heinz Field on Saturday.

It’s not a mark the Panthers are satisfied with. The seven-point loss to the Eagles represented Pitt’s third one-score loss of the season, with two of them coming on home turf.

“I feel like we underachieved this season, tremendously,” linebacker Saleem Brightwell said after the game. “I feel like especially with the players we have and the staff, to be 7-5 this year, it’s a fall-off from what we should have been.”

The loss will likely leave the Panthers with a second-tier bowl game, with one more chance to rescue an eight-win season, after having had 10 wins in their sights.

“We’ve just got to come back strong in the bowl game and try to get eight wins this year,” Brightwell said.

There is seriously something wrong with a team who leads the nation in sacks and finished 7-5.
For comparison, teams 2-5:

Ohio St: 12-0
SMU: 10-2
Virginia: 9-3
Wisconsin: 10-2
