Pitt RB Commit Israel Abinkanda Gets Fourth Star

Published

If the Pitt offense is going to improve in 2020, they’ll need to get better production from the running back position.

The good news is that they’ll be adding a four-star recruit to the running back depth chart who should be able to compete for serious playing time.

Israel Abinkanda (Abraham Lincoln High School, Brooklyn, New York) received the good news Wednesday night that he was elevated to a four-star recruit by 247 Sports, who rank him as one of the Top 15 backs in the country and the No. 1 senior recruit in the state of New York.

Abinkanda, who was named the New York Gatorade High School Player of the Year last week, will bring serious spped to the Panthers backfield as he’s been timed at 4.5 in the forty and 10.6 in the 100 Meter Dash.

The profile of Pat Narduzzi’s Class of 2020 is starting to sky rocket as the Panthers now have 9 players that are rated as four star recruits by either Rivals or 247 Sports.

247 Sports now ranks Pitt’s class as the No. 29 class in the country, while 247’s composite ratings have the Panthers at No. 34.
